There's a new whipping boy in cyber space — Blackberry smartphones. Ever since the company's services crashed on Monday evening, cyber space has been flooded with jokes, conspiracy theories and spam messages about them.
"What did one Blackberry user say to another? Nothing," goes a popular joke on Twitter. "Guess Steve Jobs reached heaven and switched off the BB server," tweeted Gunjitha Dhawan. "BB is honouring Steve Jobs by two days of silence," wrote Rameez Khan on Facebook. "Life is too short to be using a BB," tweeted TalkativeJ. "Now serving, BB crumble" and "BB's a not-so-smart phone" were some some other popular jokes online. A hoax SMS is also doing the rounds — it claims that only people who broadcast the message to all their contacts will be allowed to retain Blackberry services.
The Blackberry fanpage on Facebook, which has 8,427,569 members, has become a forum for users to lambast the company. "You really have to hurry fixing this problem. Otherwise you will lose most of your clients," wrote Elena Gaspar-Ion. "The website had no update. How about some customer care!" wrote Stephen Sinclair.
