The Flipkart and Amazon sales are a great time to buy the expensive smartwatches at low prices. Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 in 44mm is available for less than Rs. 10,000, which is an incredible deal to avail. However, there's an Apple Watch deal that seems tempting too. Flipkart has listed a 42mm Apple Watch Series 3 with a big discounted price of Rs. 15,899. That is an insanely low price for the Apple Watch, considering how much the new models cost. However, even if you are tempted to buy it, we suggest you avoid this deal.

Older Apple products at lower prices are usually great deals in India. For example, despite the iPhone 14 in stores now, people are more interested in buying last year's iPhone 13 at a much lower price, or 2020's iPhone 12 at an even lower price. While they are old, they hold good value considering the long software support they get. Get this – if you buy an iPhone 12 now, you will get at least three more years of OS updates.

Apple Watch Series 3 deal to avoid totally

With the Apple Watch Series 3, that's not the case. The Series 3 came out in 2017 and for a smartwatch, that's vintage. Apple released its newest watchOS 9 update earlier this month and it left out the Series 3 to hang out. Hence, all those new features and watch faces you see with more expensive Watch models will not be available with the Series 3.

But many of you may ask: So what if it does not have the latest update? You can still pair it with the iPhone and continue to get the same experience, right? Sadly, no.

The Watch Series 3 is old and in 2022, you can feel its dated chipset struggling on the last gen watchOS 8. Those still using a Watch Series 3 may not have issues and continue living with it until it dies. However, for someone spending ₹16,000 on a new smartwatch now, it seems like an illogical choice. Plus, the fat display bezels no longer go with the fashion of today.

What should you do then? If you want to buy an Apple Watch, your best bet would be to settle for the new Apple Watch SE 2nd Gen, which uses the new S8 chip, features crash detection, and will run for five years. Yes, you would need to spend almost double the price of the Series 3 but you are assured of longevity.

If you cannot spend more than ₹15,000, there are several smartwatches from Amazfit, Xiaomi, Realme and other Chinese brands to opt for.
