Windows 11 has been around for a while now and so far, it has proven to be a pleasant upgrade over the ageing Windows 10. The OS runs fast, is stable, and makes Windows PCs great to use. However, Windows 11 missed out on some features that users demanded, and Microsoft couldn’t provide them is successive patches. Hence, the first major update to Windows 11 since its launch has been in the works with these fixes and improvements. Called the Windows 11 Version 2H22, Microsoft has been testing it for a while and is now making it available to users under the beta program.
Windows 11 2H22 is bringing in a couple of new features, chief among which is the ability to drag and drop files on the Windows taskbar. Hence, for productivity seekers, this is a crucial update, Microsoft hasn’t revealed a date for releasing the stable version yet but Windows 11 2H22 has now reached the Release Preview of the Windows Insider Program. Additionally, Windows 11 can also be downloaded via ISO files provided by Microsoft.
Hence, if you are eager to download this upcoming update to Windows 11 and cannot wait for the stable release, here is what you need to do.
In order to get this Windows 11 2H22 now, you need to be a part of the Windows Insider Program. This is the beta testing program that suers can enroll into and test out an upcoming build.
It is easy to enrol into Windows Insider Program. All you need to do is go to Windows Updates and look for the “Enrol in Windows Insider Program” option. Just click on “Get Started”, link your Microsoft account registered with your Windows 11 PC, and do a simple restart to complete the process.
While enrolling, you get the option to choose from Dev Build, Beta Channel, and Release Preview. The Release Preview channel is the one with the most stability here, and this is where the 2H22 update is available at the moment. Opt for this one.
Once done, wait for the Windows Update page to refresh. You will see the download and install option for Windows 11 2H22 update. Click on that.
The download process will begin and the installation will follow. Once done, you will need to restart your system to boot into the newer version of Windows 11.
Know that this is a beta version of Windows 11 and hence, you could witness some bugs and issues. Hence, watch out for the critical issues with the update, it is best to avoid it if you this is your primary work PC.
