After Honor, Huawei might sell its flagship ‘Mate’ and ‘P’ line of smartphones

Huawei, the brand which back in November last year separated itself from Honor, is now said to sell its Huawei P and Huawei Mate smartphone sub brands. Citing sources close to the matter, Reuters reported that the discussion is in early stages and has been going on since months. The talks have been between Huawei and a Shanghai government-backed consortium of investors and distributors.

It has been reported that Huawei started considering selling its line of premium handsets back in September last year but the combined valuation what it has placed is still a secret. The report adds that Huawei will continue to make Kirin processors for the devices.

Huawei, however, denies the Reuters report. In a statement it says that “Huawei has learned there are unsubstantiated rumours circulating regarding the possible sale of our flagship smartphone brands. There is no merit to these rumours whatsoever. Huawei has no such plan.”

It is worth adding that Honor, after parting ways from Huawei, has joined hands with US chipmaker MediaTek for its devices. It even launched Honor V40 5G with MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor.

On the other hand, rumours for Huawei’s P50 is also brewing up. Revealed by a blogger on Weibo, Huawei P50 will be using a 90Hz refresh rate screen while the higher-end version may come with a 120Hz refresh rate. Also mentioned is that these handsets might feature Kirin 9000 and 9000e chipsets, which are also the company's latest with the 5nm process. The Huawei P50 series might not be an all screen device and will have a punch hole on top to incorporate the single front-facing camera.

According to the blogger, the regular model can support 66watt wired fast charging, along with 50watt wireless fast charging.
