A few days after releasing its iOS 14 to all the eligible iPhones, Apple has now released iOS 14.0.1. Going by the version number we can call it as a maintenance update and nothing that brings some major changes to the UI. The update brings some fixes for the home screen widget, default app settings and more. Besides this, the firm has also released iPadOS 14.0.1, watchOS 7.0.1, macOS Catalina 10.15.7, and tvOS 14.0.1.
One of the issues that is solved with iOS 14.0.1 is regarding the default apps. A few days ago, it was discovered that the default app was reset to Mail or Safari when the iPhone was rebooted. It’s solved in this version. This means you can set your preferred third party app for mail and browser just once and forget about it.

Apple news widget also gets a fix for the issue that prevented images from appearing in the News widget. In addition, the update fixes an issue that could prevent sending email with some mail providers and prevent your iPhone from connecting to Wi-Fi networks. For iPhone 7 and 7 Plus users, the issue that prevented showing up of camera previews, have also been fixed as a part of the update.
As for the watchOS 7.0.1, the changelog simply mentions “fixes an issue where some payment cards in Wallet were disabled for some users.”
You can update your iPhone to iOS 14.0.1 by navigating though the Settings app, General and Software Updates. Same can be done for the Apple Watch from inside the Watch app.
