Google Pixel 5 might just arrive in ‘XL’ version only, price tipped

Google has already disappointed its Pixel fans in India as it has confirmed the flagship handset won’t be arriving here. It has nonetheless, confirmed the existence of the device and has even shown it’s side profile alongside the Pixel 4a 5G version, which will launch parallel to Pixel 5 later this year. Although nothing else is known about the product, a Twitter user has posted another piece of information about Pixel 5. The tweet by @ImjustSayingJC states that Pixel 5 handset might just be the XL variant. This means there won’t be a less powerful Pixel 5.

The smartphone is also said to feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC, which explains the inclusion of 5G connectivity support. This might come as a slight change for Pixel fans as the company has always opted for the top of the line Snapdragon 8xx series chipsets for its Pixel flagship.

And for the price, the user states the device to cost $699, which is interesting as it will be $100 less than the cost of Pixel 4 that launched last year. Reports expect the Pixel 5 (XL) to arrive in October, which pre-orders beginning from October 8.

For those unaware, Pixel 5 was also spotted in a benchmark website recently. The AI benchmark, kind of reconfirms the claim of Pixel 5 sporting the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G processor. The listing also shows that smartphone to feature 8GB RAM and Android 11, which for now is in beta. Using an upper mid-range processor with 8GB RAM will probably help Google keep the cost of the handset in control, make it affordable for a wider audience.
