Apple enthusiasts and tech experts take pride in finding out as much as possible about the new devices before their launch. And with the iPhone 14 series, it was nothing different. Ever since the beginning of the year, we have been hearing about various rumors and leaks regarding these devices and so far, we essentially know all major changes that these smartphones might bring. That is, unless Apple is in the mood to surprise us, which it has done to be fair. But one area where there has been absolutely no consensus was the name of the newest model to be released this year, iPhone 14 Max, or maybe the iPhone 14 Plus. For months, different tipsters have been using different names and yet we had no idea what the name might be. But a new leak has finally given us a big lead into this speculation. Read on to find out.
A Twitter user called Tommy Boi posted a tweet on August 31, where a protective case with the words “iPhone 14 Plus” can be seen clearly. A report by GSM Arena has revealed that the protective cases were made by a third-party manufacturer called ESR. Of course, this also means that the name can easily be something else as Apple does not reveal its product names to third-party manufacturers.
If Apple does go for the ‘Plus’ over ‘Max’, it will also be breaking a naming convention it has kept since 2018. 2018 was the first time it dropped Plus in favor of Max and so far all subsequent devices have kept the same naming pattern.
Also, this leak comes from a very unreliable source so we would request the readers to take it with a pinch of salt and be skeptical about it till the official launch. The names are often the last thing to leak. Usually the leaks come from the supply chain so hardware specifications and features get known but the name, price of the device etc are decided by the product marketing department of Apple, they rarely see the light of day before launch.
The newest addition to the iPhone 14 lineup is a 6.7-inch smartphone which is likely to carry features similar to the iPhone 14. It is believed that this device will replace the iPhone 13 Mini and offer the users a chance to enjoy a larger display without having to pay extra for the Pro models.
