Earlier, Chinese tipster called Digital Chat Station via the Weibo account claimed Xiaomi would soon launch a new smartphone with a 108-megapixel camera under its Redmi lineup. It also added that the phone would be part of the current Redmi Note 9 lineup instead of a possible Redmi Note 10 series.

The 108-megapixel camera in question is said to be Samsung’s ISOCELL HM2 sensor. In case you did not know, Samsung’s HM2 sensor comes with 0.7-micron pixels and 1/1.52-inch sensor size. The sensor also features nona-binning technology, which helps combine data from 9 pixels and integrate it into a single brighter pixel, delivering a high-resolution 12-megapixel shot.

Currently, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max is the top-end model in the lineup. Available in India for a starting price of 15,999, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max comes with a 64-megapixel quad-camera array and a 32-megapixel selfie camera. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor. It also has 5,020mAh battery coupled with 33W fast charging support. The phone has a 6.67-inch full HD+ display.
