Oppo, Realme unable to meet customer demand due to shut factory: Report

Oppo shut its Greater Noida factory last month after six workers tested positive for Covid-19. All operations at this factory have been suspended till further notice. Due to the factory shut Oppo, Realme and OnePlus phones are now finding it difficult to meet customer demand. All three companies are under the parent company ‘BBK’ with Oppo as the lead manufacturer.

According to a report by ET, these three phone brands are finding it difficult to meet demand in both offline and online channels. Oppo and Realme phones under ₹15,000 in particular are not available.

OnePlus also had to delay the sale for its OnePlus 8 Pro and OnePlus 8 smartphones as production was affected at the Oppo factory. While the company has been hosting limited sales for the OnePlus 8 series it still hasn’t been able to start an open sale yet.

ET also quoted a retailer saying that customers are now going for older smartphone models from Oppo, Realme and even Xiaomi since there’s no availability for the newer releases. However Samsung and Vivo phones are selling as they had good inventory, the report added.

Oppo still hasn’t resumed operations at its Noida factory. But product launches are continuing to take place with Realme having launched a new smartwatch, and even its first smart TV in India. Oppo is also slated to launch its premium Find X2 series in India along with the Reno 4 series coming later.
