Xiaomi’s Redmi will soon launch a gaming phone with MediaTek’s new Dimensity 1200 processor, reports Gizmcohina.
Redmi’s General Manager Lu Weibing on Weibo confirmed that the company will soon launch a phone with the MediaTek chip. According to a post from Digital Chat Station, however, the upcoming Redmi phone will be its first “e-sports game phone.”
“After two generations of product iterations, Redmi’s flagship K series has been well-known in the flagship market. K40 will be released next month. Also attracted much attention. In future, Redmi will continue to focus on its flagship market and continue to enrich its flagship product series,” Weibing said in the post.
“In 2021, Redmi will focus on e-sports and launch Redmi’s first flagship gaming phone. Bring the flagship e-sports experience to the fans of a price that cannot be refused, so stay tuned,” added the post [translated].
As of now, there is no word on when the phone will be released and what it would entail.
Apart from Redmi, Realme has also confirmed it will launch a phone with the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC. According to rumours, Realme will launch the Realme X9 Pro with the chip.
The Realme handset is rumoured to come with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. The phone will be available in 128GB and 256GB storage options. The device will most likely offer Android 11-based Realme UI 2.0 out-of-the-box. It is said to have 108-megapixel camera coupled with two 13-megapixel sensors on the back. On the front, it is said to come with a 6.4-inch OLED display with up to 120Hz refresh rate and full HD+ resolution. A 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging is said to power the phone.
