Redmi has not yet disclosed the official name of the phone, reports Gizmochina. There is no official word on the key specifications of the phone either. The company last month confirmed it would launch its first gaming phone with MediaTek’s Dimensity 1200 processor.

According to older leaks, Redmi’s first-ever gaming phone will come with a flat OLED screen with a punch hole cut on top to house the selfie camera. The display is said to be similar to what Xiaomi offers on its Redmi K40 and Mi 11 handsets. Apart from MediaTek Dimensity 1200, Redmi’s gaming phone will run on a 5,000mAh battery which supports 65W fast charging. It is also said to deliver full charge within 30 minutes. Rumours suggest the phone will come to the Indian market as well.

That said, MediaTek had launched the Dimensity 1200 processor earlier this year. The chipset is said to compete with the likes of Qualcomm Snapdragon 870/888 and Exynos 2100. Already, phones like Realme GT Neo run on the MediaTek processor.

Separately, Xiaomi is gearing up for a big event in India on April 23. The company has already confirmed it would launch the long-awaited Mi 11 Ultra. Earlier this week, Xiaomi dropped new teasers to confirm the debut of a brand-new X-series.

Reports suggest the company will launch Mi 11X and Mi 11X Pro. The two devices are said to be the rebranded versions of the Redmi K40 and K40 Pro.
