Samsung has started rolling out the latest May 2021 security patch to the Galaxy S20 series, S21 series and the Galaxy Z Fold2. In addition to the security patch, this update also brings some improvements to the cameras and quick share function on these devices. The new update is reportedly rolling out to users in Europe first.
The May 2021 security patch comes with fixes for three critical vulnerabilities that Google patched in the operating system. It also comes with fixes for 23 vulnerabilities and exposures items that were found in Samsung’s software, SamMobile reported. Galaxy S20, S21 and Z Fold2 users can check if they’ve received the update by going to Settings > Software update. For the Galaxy S21 series, the update is version G98xBXXU3AUDA and it’s almost 1GB in size. On the Galaxy Z Fold2, the update is version F916BXXU1DUDA, and it’s sized at a little over 493MB.
On these two devices, the changelog states that the performance of the camera has been improved. This update also improves the quick share feature that is similar to Apple’s AirDrop. Samsung has also added the dual recording feature on the Galaxy Z Fold2 that lets users record with the front and rear cameras at the same time, the report added.
Samsung has rolled out the update to last year’s Galaxy S20 series as well. The update build number is G98xxXXU7DUDB, and it is 395MB in size. It brings the May 2021 security patch but it doesn’t have the camera improvements.
