After Apple and Huawei, Samsung seems to be next in like to launch 5nm-based smartphone processor. The South Korean tech giant has announced the arrival of new chipset via an invitation, which has been uploaded on Weibo. As per the invite, Samsung will launch its 5nm-based Exynos 1080 chipset on November 12 in Shanghai as a part of an in-person event. Although the details are not known yet, the processor is said to power Vivo’s X60 smartphone, which is also expected to launch in China soon.

Exynos 1080 is said to be the first with ARM’s Cortex A-78 CPU big cores that are clocked at up to 3GHz, along with Mali-G78 GPU. The product also showed up on Antutu benchmark listing with a CPU score of 181,000 points, which makes it better than Qualcomm Snapdragon 865+. As for the GPU score, the chipset scored just under 300,000 points, which again makes it better than Asus ROG Phone 3 and even Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Ultra.

However, this is not the only chipset that will be coming to smartphones soon. Samsung is also said to be working on Exynos 981 SoC. This could be the firm’s mid-range chipset device. The chipset’s Bluetooth SIG listing shows it to support v5.2 standard. Nothing else is known about the processor yet.

On the other hand, Qualcomm is expected to launch its Snapdragon 875+ smartphone processor in December. The processor is said to be made using 5nm process.
