Apple Music is finally available on Google Assistant smart speakers and displays

Apple Music is finally available on Google Assistant speakers and smart displays with Google adding full support for the music streaming service from Apple. Google announced in a blog that Google Assistant-enabled devices like Nest Audio, Nest Hub Max, Nest Mini etc and third-party speakers from Lenovo, JBL etc now fully support Apple Music.

Apple Music users can now search and play their albums and playlists on these Google Assistant-enabled speakers by using voice commands.

Earlier, Google Assistant-enabled speakers and displays could only play content from Apple Music if it was being streamed over Bluetooth from iOS or Android devices. With the new update, users just need to link their Apple Music account through the Google Home app and set it as the default music service.

“Then, all you have to do is say, ‘Hey Google, play New Music Daily playlist’, or ‘Hey Google, play Rap Life playlist’,” said Google.

Apple Music will also work with Google’s multi-room audio feature. If you have more than one compatible smart speaker or display, you can use the multi-room control feature in the Google Home app or on a Nest smart display to dynamically move your music from one device to the other, and even play music on all of the devices in your home by saying, “Hey Google, play music on all my speakers”.

Google is rolling out support for Apple Music starting in the US, UK, France, Germany and Japan first. And support for Apple Music arrives alongside Spotify, Pandora, YouTube Music and Deezer on the Google Assistant-enabled smart speakers.
