Apple to cut iPhone 12 Mini production, mass-produce new MacBooks

The iPhone 12 Mini hasn’t been as popular among the masses as Apple had hoped it would be. Reports in the past have detailed Apple’s plans of changing the after-sales benefits of the device. Reports have also detailed that owing to the sluggish sales, Apple reportedly asked some suppliers to temporarily stop making some of the components that are specifically used in the device. Now, a new report doubles down on these older reports while divulging details about the company’s plans.

As per a report by Nikkei Asia (via GizChina), Apple is planning to reduce the production capacity of the iPhone 12 Mini. The company is reportedly cutting about 20% of the iPhone production orders with the iPhone 12 Mini bearing the brunt of it. The company, however, is paying attention to the sale of the other three iPhone 12 models, which helped the company achieve $111.4 billion in sales in the final quarter of the year.

The report also states that, while Apple is reducing the production of its iPhone 12 Mini models, it has put new Apple laptops with its Silicon processors on the production schedule.

The report also states that the iPhone-maker has postponed the mass production of two new MacBooks from May to the second half of the year. While the report doesn’t mention the exact laptop series whose mass production has been postponed, it is expected to be the MacBook Pro.

As far as the details are concerned, noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo says that the new MacBook Pro models will come with Mini-LED backlit displays along with HDMI ports, SD card readers, flat-edge design, magnetic power cord and TouchBar among other things.
