Gmail user? Don't make this costly mistake, just do this now

Gmail has been around for a long time. It has survived and even thrived even as the likes of Yahoo or Hotmail, once iconic mail services, withered away. That means almost everyone is on Gmail and it is time to pay up. Last month, Gmail announced that it is ending its feature that allowed users to store unlimited amounts of photos for free. Now, Gmail users have just a 15GB capacity storage free, spanning Gmail, Photos and Drive, and if this limit is exceeded, everyone needs to pay. So, unless you are loaded and the cost does not matter to you, ensure that you do not make this costly mistake going forward of accumulating too many mails that eat up your storage and thereby breaching the limit.

Google has announced, "As of June 1, 2021, any new photos or videos you back up in High quality (now named Storage saver) or Express quality will count toward your 15 GB of Google Account storage or any additional storage you may have purchased as a Google One member. "

However, there is a bit of a silver lining here. Google said:

1. Any photos or videos you’ve backed up in High quality or Express quality before June 1, 2021, won’t count toward your Google Account storage.

2. Photos and videos backed up in Original quality will continue to count toward your Google Account storage.

3. Photos backed up in Original quality and then compressed to Storage saver quality (previously named High quality) after June 1, 2021, will count toward your Google Account storage.

Gmail users probably rarely, if ever, look at their usage trends and habits and as a result, their inbox does get piled up with mail. These mails that you get on daily basis may be work-related or simply entertainment, even spam, but they eat up a huge amount of storage. That most mails have various attachments consisting of photos, videos and PDFs, adds to the problem.

What Gmail users need to do is a bit of cleaning up every time they near the danger mark of exceeding your free storage capacity. It is already one full month since the new system has been implemented and your account must be carrying quite a lot of excess baggage already. So, this weekend would surely be the best time to do a bit of cleaning up to save yourself from trouble.
