Nokia 1 starts receiving Android 10 (Go edition) update in India

HMD Global has started rolling out Android 10 (Go edition) for its entry-level smartphone, Nokia 1. The update will roll out in batches, and India is among the first to receive it.

HMD Global’s chief product officer Juho Sarvikas tweeted the announcement of Android 10 (Go edition) for Nokia 1. The first wave of countries where the update will reach include India, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. 10% of these markets will receive the Android 10 (Go edition) update today itself. It will reach 50% of these markets by July 10 and it will be available in all markets mentioned by July 12.

Android Go is a lighter version of the Android OS. It also comes with lightweight apps like Google Go, Gallery Go, YouTube Go and Assistant Go. it’s perfect for entry-level phones as it consumes less RAM and space. Google also launched the Camera Go app with portrait mode earlier this March. This was timed with Android Go reaching a milestone of 100 million active users globally.

Most of Nokia’s entry-level phones run on Android Go. Earlier this April, the Android 10 (Go edition) was rolled out to the Nokia 1 Plus.

Nokia 1 launched in India back in 2018. The smartphone has a 4.50-inch display, and it runs on MediaTek’s MT6737M processor. Nokia 1 packs 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It has a 2,150mAh battery. The smartphone sports a single 5-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel selfie camera.
