Flipkart has been teasing the launch of a Nokia device that can turn any TV into a Smart TV. Flipkart tweeted a little teaser video that starts off with - Something exciting is coming to make your TV smarter.
The teaser indicates that you will not have to upgrade your TV for this. This essentially means that the Nokia device is going to be a smartbox of sorts (like the Xiaomi Mi Box 4K maybe?) that can turn your regular TV into a Smart TV.
The Flipkart teaser asks you to “watch this space for updates”.
The 10-second teaser video on the post lists a bunch of features that is coming with the new device including built-in Chromecast, Android 9 Pie, Google Assistant support, gaming apps, Dolby audio and support for OTT apps like Zee5. The teaser states that you will get them all without having to change your TV.
Flipkart entered into a brand licensing partnership with Nokia in December last year to launch a Smart TV that runs Android 9.0. This Nokia-branded TV came with a 55-inch 4K panel and JBL speakers and was priced at ₹41,999.
Now, this partnership has been extended to add on this mysterious new device that will help many users who do not have Smart TVs get a better experience out of the TVs they already have. We’ll have to wait to find out more details on this.
