Apple 8th-gen iPad, new iPad Air launched, price starts at ₹29,990

Apple has launched the new iPad Air and the 8th generation iPad models. While the iPad Air comes at a starting price of ₹29,990, the iPad Air comes at a starting price of ₹54,900.

Apple on Tuesday hosted its Time Flies event wherein the company refreshed its iPad lineup by launching the 8th generation iPad. The newly launched 8th generation iPad replaces the 7th generation iPad that was launched in the fall last year as the entry-level iPad.

In terms of the features, the 8th generation iPad Air comes with a 10.2-inch Retina display. It is powered by the A12 Bionic chipset that is coupled with a Neural Engine. Apple says that the eighth-generation iPad is up to two times faster than the top-selling Windows laptop, up to three times faster than the top-selling Android tablet and up to six times faster than the top-selling Chromebook.

The 8th generation iPad runs on iOS 14 and it features support for the Apple Pencil. Apple will start rolling out the iPadOS 14 on all its iPads starting September 16.

As far as the price and availability are concerned, the 8th generation iPad comes at a starting price of ₹29,900 for the Wi-Fi model and INR 41,900 for the Wi-Fi + Cellular model. It will be available in Silver, Space Grey and Gold colour variants and in 32GB and 128GB memory variants in India soon.

Apart from launching the 8th generation iPad, Apple also launched a new iPad Air model. It features a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display and it is powered by Apple's A14 Bionic chipset. There is a touchID that is embedded right on the home button and a 12MP FaceTime camera. It also runs on iPadOS 14.

The new iPad Air comes at a starting price of ₹54,900 for the WiFi-only variant and ₹66,900 for the WiFi + Cellular variant. It will be available in India in 64GB and 256GB memory variants and in Silver, Space Gray, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue colour variants starting October this year.

Apart from the two new iPad models, Apple also announced a bunch of new accessories for its iPad. The second-generation Apple Pencil costs ₹10,900, while the Magic Keyboard and the Smart Keyboard Folio for iPad Air are available for ₹27,900 and ₹15,900, respectively. Lastly, the Smart Folios for iPad Air are available for ₹7,500 in Black, White, Deep Navy, Cyprus Green, and Pink Citrus colour options.
