How many gaming phones can you recall from the mid-range segment? Not many, right? But now, to give you a great option to consider and make your gaming experience fun, iQOO has come up with the iQOO Neo 6. But everyone is not a gamer; the phone also needs to be good at doing basic phone things nicely, considering its price. At a starting price of Rs. 29,999, is iQOO Neo 6 the next performance champ? After using the phone for a while now, here is what we have to say.

iQOO Neo 6 Design

The iQOO Neo 6 at first glance looks like just another iQOO phone -- Big camera hump with a beautiful colour gradient. It looks premium. The camera hump looks fun and stands out among other smartphones under this price range. Provided in two different colours (I am using the Dark Nova variant), the phone gets a matte finish and does not attract smudges or dirt. Weighing 190 grams, the phone is handy and comfortable to hold. The build quality also seems good.

iQOO Neo 6 Display

The front of the iQOO Neo 6 is graced with a 6.62-inch E4 AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a peak touch sampling rate of 1200Hz. The screen is responsive, bright (peak brightness of 1300nits), and offers a decent viewing experience with popping colours. Also, the phone gives you the option to choose if you want to keep the refresh rate at 60Hz, 120Hz, or a smart switch.

iQOO Neo 6 Performance

The heart of the iQOO Neo 6 is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SoC -- though more than a year old, it is among the more stable and reliable smartphone chips yet. Also, the phone runs on Funtouch OS 12 based on Android 12, enhancing the performance of the phone a notch higher. The phone handles every task thrown at it perfectly. May it be playing heavy games like Shadow Fight 4, Asphalt 9, BGMI or the casual ones like Temple Run, Tank Stars, among others, or just simple binge-watching, or surfing social media, you will enjoy doing all without noticing any lag.

And to help the phone keep its calm, iQOO has added Cascade Cooling System to Neo 6. Hence, the phone does not heat up or show any kind of tantrums even after long gaming sessions. However, the user interface (UI) contains lots of bloatware and pre-installed apps. You may also get annoyed with the unnecessary notifications pushed by the browser app. Also Read: Nothing Phone (1): This is IT! Your first look at this upcoming iPhone rival

The phone has dual stereo speakers which are loud and clear enough to enhance your gaming and entertainment experience. iQOO Neo 6 also provides you with several customization options. For example, you can set fingerprint icon animation, facial recognition animation, touch screen animation, and a lot more.

iQOO Neo 6 Cameras

As iQOO Neo 6 is more of a gaming phone, I was not expecting much from its cameras. However, to my surprise, the clicks were very impressive. The Neo 6 has a triple rear camera setup with a 64MP main camera, 8MP ultrawide, and 2MP macro camera. As for selfies, you get a 16MP lens in front.

The main camera captures every detail along with apt colours and clarity. The sensor performs well in low light too. The ultrawide and micro lens also captured fairly decent pictures. The portrait click gets a good natural bokeh effect. However, if you compare the camera performance of the phone with other smartphones under Rs.30000 segment like the Oppo F21 Pro, you will find room for improvement. iQOO Neo 6 Battery

The iQOO Neo 6 is equipped with a 4,700mAh battery and comes with an 80W charger. The phone can easily last 1.5 days with a regular workload. However, a long gaming session of 3-4 hours will drain the battery fast leading you to charge it twice. But charging iQOO Neo 6 is not a hectic task! The phone takes around 45 minutes to get fully charged from 10 to 100 percent.

iQOO with its Neo 6 has tried to make a phone which is not only for gaming but a capable all rounder. The phone undoubtedly offers a great gaming experience but other than that, it also provides decent camera performance and battery life with fast charging capabilities. At the same time, the iQOO Neo 6 can be a great recommendation for gamers who want a phone under Rs. 30000 that does almost all the tasks right! However, there is always a scope for improvement. The Neo 6 gets tough competition from Realme GT 2, Xiaomi 11i Hypercharge, Oppo F21 Pro, in terms of camera performance and charging speeds.
