Amazon warns Kindle users to update before March 22

Its pretty much the final warning for owners of the original Kindle Paperwhite and earlier models. Amazon has announced that these devices need to be updated by March 22 or else they will not be able to access Internet and more importantly -- access to the Kindle store.

The e-commerce giant further adds that if you fail to update your Kindle before the above mentioned date, you'll receive the following warning message when you try to access the Internet:

Your Kindle is unable to connect at this time. Please make sure you are within wireless range and try again. If the problem persists, please restart your Kindle from the Menu in Settings and try again.

Amazon says the update is required to make sure that Kindle stays in compliance with the continuously evolving web standards.

Users who've been using their Kindles regularly don't have to worry as the device will get automatically updated via Wi-Fi. Though devices which have not been used for a while should be turned on to download the new update by clicking "Sync and Check for Items" in the menu. Once your Kindle has been updated you will be notified via a confirmation letter.
