Apple is going to announce something today, as Tim Cook has teased

This is going to be a company announcement by the looks of it. The Apple CEO also called for accountability for the siege at the US Capitol while speaking at a chat show.

The chat show host also asked Cook if Donald Trump should be held responsible for his part in inciting the riot. While Cook did not name the president, he said that everyone involved should be held accountable.

Brace yourselves. Apple is going to announce something today, as CEO Tim Cook teased on a morning chat show. Speaking at the show, Cook also said that everyone involved in the January 6 siege of the US Capitol should also be “held accountable”.

Cook was speaking to “CBS This Morning” host Gayle King and mentioned an unspecified company announcement that's slated for January 13 (that is today). Over the chat, King also also asked Cook about the US Capitol siege.

"I think it's key that people be held accountable for it. This is not something that should skate. This is something that we've got to be very serious about and understand. And then we need to move forward,” Cook said.

King also asked Cook if Donald Trump should be held responsible for his part in inciting the riot. While Cook did not name the president, he said that everyone involved should be held accountable.

"I think no one is above the law. I mean, that's a great thing about our country, and we're a rule of law country," Cook said.

"I think everyone that had a part in it needs to be held accountable,” he added.

Apple removed pro-Trump social media platform Parler from the App Store in the wake of the Capitol Hill attack because of its “failure to moderate content that may have incited violence”.

The comments made by Cook about the Capitol attack and Trump were as part of a longer interview that “CBS This Morning” is going to release on January 13, reports AppleInsider.

It's not clear yet what this interview is about and all that King has said that it is going to be regarding a significant company announcement. King also clarified that it isn't a new product but it is “something bigger and better” that is very exciting.

The video clip teased on Tuesday had a few clues though the interview itself was conducted remotely with King speaking from an Apple Store and Cook from Apple Park at Cupertino.

Looking back at what Apple announcements are pending, the company is yet to debut the Apple Tracking Transparency feature that's scheduled to arrive early 2021. And if this is indeed what Apple is going to announce today, in the middle of CES 2021, it is noteworthy since Apple has promoted its privacy policies during CES in the past as well (with a whole billboard advert).
