ASUS launches Maximus 4 GENE-Z GEN3, P8Z68 GEN 3 Series Motherboards
ASUS recently unveiled PCIe 3.0 version of its micro ATX Republic of Gamers Maximus IV Gene. The PCIe 3.0 version is known as ROG Maximus IV Gene-Z / Gen 3. Apart from PCIe 3.0, this one is now based on Z68 chipset instead of P67 that was in original motherboard.

Apart from PCIe 3.0, this one is now based on Z68 chipset instead of P67 that was in original motherboard. 'Z' in the name represents this change.
This board is equipped with 12-phase Digi+ VRM CPU power design. It has four DDR3 DIMM slots which support up to 2200 MHz of DDR3 memory in dual channel. Expansion slots include two PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots that are wired with the socket. The Gen 3 feature is only accessible with the next-generation 22 nm Ivy Bridge Core processors, which will be launched next year. Only slot, apart from these two, is the PCI Express 2.0 x4. Its wired with Z68 PCH. Motherboard supports both AMD CrossfireX and NVIDIA SLi in x8/x8 mode.
Storage connectivity options available in this micro ATX board start with two SATA III 6GB/s and four SATA II 3GB/s internal ports. Other internal connectors offer two USB 3.0 ports. Back panel I/o includes an HDMI port, two USB 3.0 ports, SupremeFX X-Fi 8+2 channel HD audio and the sole gigabit Ethernet connection which is driven by a low-overhead Intel-made GbE controller.
It comes with ROG themed UEFI along with all usual ROG goodies like GameFirst, ROG Connect, GPU.DIMM Post, CPU Level Up, and Mem TweakIt. Its price and availability isn't announced yet.
