Barnes & Noble is touting its latest price cuts as part of campaign in support of the Get London Reading initiative, suggesting that the offer will run for a limited time only, however it is yet to give a cut-off date.

The Nook Simple Touch e-reader is now only £29 -- a £50 saving, while the Nook Simple Touch Glowlight is £69. Even the prices in its tablet range have come down -- the Nook HD is £129 and the Nook HD+ is £179.

The reductions of up to 60 percent are, according to the company, to celebrate the Get London Reading campaign of which Barnes & Noble is a sponsor. The company is also donating 1000 e-readers to London schools in order to promote literacy and improve access to literary texts.

To put the Nook range's prices into perspective, Amazon, the company's closest direct rival, offers its entry-level Kindle for £69, its Paperwhite eReader for £109 and its cheapest Kindle Fire HD tablet is £159.

The full range of Nook tablets and eReaders are available online from the Nook store.
