Facebook is testing an update to its "Notes" feature.

Remember Facebook Notes? It was that obscure little part of Facebook that let you type long, blog-like entries back in the days when Facebook status messages still had character-limits. Then, Facebook lifted those limits and suddenly, Notes was, well, irrelevant.

Now, Facebook is revamping the feature into what looks like a blogging or a publishing platform.

'We're testing an update to Notes to make it easier for people to create and read longer-form stories on Facebook,' a Facebook spokesperson told technology news website The Verge.

Facebook is currently testing the new version of Notes with a select group of people, but it will, presumably, be rolled out to everyone.

Posts written in the new version of Notes might display instantly in the Facebook app on mobile phones, similar to Facebook's Instant Articles. Facebook is moving towards hosting more and more content itself, so this move fits right in.
