In terms of looks, specifications, performance, features and price, there is very, very little that Motorola can do to improve upon the Moto G smartphone. However that isn't stopping the company from trying.
So, for a special version of the phone that will launch initially in Mexico only, Motorola is partnering with Ferrari, that creator of hypercars and the owner of the most successful Formula 1 team in the sport's history.
The result of this collaboration -- the Moto G Ferrari Edition -- comes encased in Kevlar rather than polycarbonate, carries the Ferrari 'Prancing Horse' plaque and has 16GB of on-board storage as standard. But apart from the 100 % memory bump, on the inside, the phone is the same as a stock Moto G.
The biggest change is the price. The Moto G has been such a huge success since its launch because it offers incredible value for money -- an HD display, the latest version of Android, a quad-core processor and 1GB of RAM -- for less than $200 (€160) off contract.
However, the Ferrari version will cost 4,999 Pesos when it goes on sale in Mexico next month; that's the equivalent of €282 or $387.
