Traditionally a celebration of club football, the FIFA series is branching out with a selection of international tournaments added to FIFA 13.

Although those tournaments may not come with official licenses, they will mirror the structure of real-world equivalents, with a World Championship, European Championship, Confederations Cup and South America Cup confirmed.

Like spinning plates

Those who like to dabble in FIFA's manager mode will be able to steer both club and country at the same time, subjecting themselves to the simultaneous anguish and excitement of international call-ups.

For now, club management is mandatory while national duties are an optional extra, whereas a dedicated management simulation like Football Manager caters for either-or situations.

During the Q&A, fans asked for further information about the national teams included in FIFA 13, having experienced some measure of confusion over the recent UEFA 2012 tie-in, which contained a mix of fully and partially licensed teams.

For example, FIFA 13 producer Santiago Jaramillo named Venezuela and Colombia as examples of teams to make the cut, but Canada -- home to EA's FIFA studio -- was left out this time around.

Destination everywhere

FIFA 13 is to launch on its primary platforms, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, during the week of September 25, with additional versions expected for Wii, 3DS, and PSP not long after, plus mobile and Vita equivalents to be announced.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 and Football Manager 2013 are expected at a similar time, while one-man tour-de-force New Star Soccer has been ripping it up on iOS and Android since March.
