High-tech product releases announced this week include the world's first 55" OLED Smart TV, an updated Google TV with a magic remote, LG's first quad-core smartphone, the world's lightest 14" ultrabook and an affordable Android smartphone for music lovers.

World's first 55" OLED Smart TV

Samsung's ES9500 is not only the world's first 55" OLED Smart TV, it can also simultaneously show two channels in full HD on the same full screen. The 3D TV features a barely-there bezel minimalistic design, life-like colors that are 20 percent richer than those on an LED screen and a full range of Smart TV features including internet TV, face recognition, voice control and motion control. The ES9500 is reported to be priced at over $8,000-$9,000 and should be available in the second half of 2012.

A Smart TV with a dual-core processor and "Magic" remote

The LG Smart TV with Google TV G2 Series sports improved Google services, a redesigned user interface that's easier to use, and LG's new L9 dual-core processor -- a chipset that supports more powerful graphics processing, smoother web browsing and enables faster search across the Web and live TV. It is also the first Google TV series available within the US market to ship with a dual-core processor. The G2 is capable of displaying 3D content and also comes with a Wii-like 5-mode G2 Magic Remote which responds to gesture-based commands and features a full QWERTY keyboard on the reverse. LG Smart TV with Google TV (G2 Series) is expected land in stores on May 26 in 47-inch and 55-inch class sizes priced at $1,699.99 and $2,299.99 respectively.

A quad-core smartphone with a bright, high-res display and a big battery

LG's first quad-core smartphone, the Optimus 4X HD, is equipped with a Nvidia 1.5GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor and runs the latest version of Google's Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich. It has a 4.7" (1280 x 720) True HD IPS display, 8MP and 1.3MP cameras, 16GB of memory and a 2,150mAh battery. The LG Optimus 4X HD will be available in Europe in June followed by countries in Asia, CIS, South and Central America in the coming months.

The world's lightest 14" ultrabook

Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo unveiled the world's lightest 14" ultrabook, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is the successor to the company's 13" ThinkPad X1 but is both lighter and thinner than its sibling. The ultrabook has an Ivy Bridge processor, RapidBoot and RapidCharge technology, built in 3G, a 720p HD camera, a spill-resistant keyboard and a carbon fiber roll cage. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is due to arrive in August. No price has been announced.

An affordable smartphone for music lovers

Motorola is introducing its MotoSmart Mix XT550 Android smartphone in the Chinese market hoping to tempt young music fans. It is the only smartphone to ship with the Sina Micro Music app. Additional features include SRS WOW HD sound-enhancement technology, a large 4" display, a 3MP camera, and a 1735mAh battery for up to 30 hours of non-stop music. The MotoSmart Mix XT550 is available now in China and is priced at ¥1,699.00 (€210).
