The Gionee A1 Lite is a stripped-down version of the recently launched Gionee A1. The new phone will be competing against the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Lenovo K8 Note.

Gionee on Wednesday launched a new iteration of its Gionee A1 smartphone. Called the Gionee A1 Lite, the 14,999 phone boasts a 20-megapixel selfie camera and a 4,000mAh battery. It will go on sale across retail stores in India from August 10.

Gionee has also partnered with Airtel and Paytm to bundle a few offers with the A1 Lite. On purchasing the Gionee A1 Lite, new or existing Airtel customers will get an additional 10GB data per month for six months on any data recharge of 1GB and above. Paytm is offering cashback of 250 on a minimum purchase of 350 on Paytm mall.

Gionee A1 Lite Specifications

The Gionee A1 Lite features a 5.3-inch HD display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartphone runs custom Amigo 4.0 on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. It is powered by MediaTek MT6753 processor clocked at 1.3GHz coupled with 3GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB of built-in storage and supports expandable storage up to 256GB.

Other than its 20-megapixel front facing camera, it also sports a 13-megapixel rear camera. Connectivity options include 4G, VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS among others. It is powered by a 4,000mAh battery. The Gionee A1 Lite also has a fingerprint scanner which the company claims can unlock the device in just 0.3 seconds.

In comparison, the Gionee A1 comes with a 5.5-inch full HD display. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat-based Amigo 4.0 and is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. Other key features of the smartphone include 13-megapixel rear and 16-megapixel front facing cameras, 64GB built-in storage, 4,000mAh battery, dual-SIM and fingerprint scanner. The Gionee A1 is available in the market for 19,999.

The new iteration will be pitted against a range of budget Android smartphones under 15,000 such as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and the newly-launched Lenovo K8 Note.

Launched in India today, the Lenovo K8 Note is available in two variants -- 3GB of RAM with 32GB of built-in storage and 4GB of RAM with 64GB of built-in storage. The base model is priced at 12,999 and the top-end model comes for 13,999. The Lenovo K8 Note features a 5.5-inch full HD display, MediaTek Helio X23 processor, 13+5 megapixel rear cameras, 13-megapixel front facing camera, and a 4,000mAh battery.
