The report adds that this change not only brings the Gmail desktop version in line with the Android version, but also matches the changes that Google rolled out to Android and other apps as well in the last few years

It is being speculated that this minor change can be a part of a limited test before it rolls out to billions of users around the world. We can also expect these minor changes in icons rolling out widely in the near future. It might also reach out to the masses by the time Google brings Android 12 to everyone or holds the Google IO developer conference.

The firm seems to have already dropped a major hint regarding the arrival of Android 12 by updating the Feedback app that is meant to let developers and beta testers send feedback easily. Updating the app in February seems understandable since last year too Google dropped the first beta of Android 11 in the same month.
