Google Pixel 3a series launched in India, prices start ₹39,999: Full specs, features

Google’s new ‘budget’ Pixel 3a series comes with the same look and design like the flagship Pixel 3, and with its premium camera features as well.

At its I/O conference, Google launched its new Pixel 3a series. The lighter and cheaper offering of the flagship Pixel 3 series comes in two models - Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL.

Google Pixel 3a is priced at ₹39,999, while the bigger Pixel 3a XL carries a price tag of ₹44,999. Pixel 3a will be available in two colour options of 'Just Black' and 'Clearly White'. The smartphone also comes in a new purple colour but this variant isn't coming to India. Pixel 3a phones can be ordered starting today via Flipkart, and the sale will begin on May 15.

The new Pixel 3a series shares the same dated design as the Pixel 3 with no notch and 18:9 screen, but in a plastic body. The smartphones also enjoy premium Google features like Google Assistant's call screen, AR Core, Digital Wellbeing, and Adaptive Battery. Pixel 3a users will also receive minimum three years of security and OS updates.

Google Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL specifications

Like the Pixel 3, the Pixel 3a phones also differ in only two departments - screen size and battery. Pixel 3a features a 5.6-inch FHD+ gOLED display, and packs a 3,000mAh battery. Pixel 3a has a bigger 6-inch FHD+ gOLED display and comes with a 3,700mAh battery.

Under the hood of Pixel 3a runs Qualcomm's Snapdragon 670 processor paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. Coming to its highlight, the Pixel 3a series sports a 12.2-megapixel dual-pixel Sony IMX363 camera. For selfies, there's an 8-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture, fixed focus and 84-degree field of view.

Pixel 3a offers the same camera sensor as the premium Pixel 3 and also comes with most of its camera features. Pixel 3a's camera features night sight, top shot, portrait mode, motion auto focus, playground and even the recently launched photobooth mode.

Connectivity options on Pixel 3a include USB Type-C port, single nano SIM support, 3.5mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.0, and NFC. On the software front, Pixel 3a runs on Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
