HTC U Ultra, U Play launched in India starting at ₹39,990
Taiwanese handset-maker HTC had showcased the HTC U Ultra back in Jnauary but had not announced the price. The company is expected to declare the price today evening along with an official set of hardware specifications.
Taiwanese handset-maker HTC has unveiled the price of HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play -- smartphones that the company had showcased back in January.
The HTC U Ultra is priced at ₹ 59,990 and the HTC U Play is priced at ₹ 39,990. Both phones come with a one-year insurance that covers liquid damage and any physical damage to the phones. Customers also have an option to avail 7.5 percent cashback on the Market Opertaing Price (MOP) value of both the phones using Standard Chartered Debit or credit card. This offer is valid from March 6- May 31, 2017.HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play will be available in Indian market from March 6, 2017 and mid-March 2017, respectively.
The U Ultra, that comes in Sapphire Blue, Brilliant Blue, cosmetic Pink and Ice White colours, is powered by a Qualcom Snapdragon 821 processor along with a 4GB RAM unit. The HTC U Ultra comes in two storage variants - 64GB and 128GB that are expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). While the 64GB variant is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the 128GB variant is protected by Sapphire glass.

The Ultra sports a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super LCD display and runs Android 7.0 Nougat with Sense UI customisation on top. In terms of camera, the HTC U Ultra sports a 12-UltraPixel rear camera with 1.55-micron pixels, a BSI sensor, laser + phase detection autofocus, optical image stabilisation, an f/2.8 aperture, and dual-tone LED flash. The u Ultra has a 16-megapixel front shooter.
The Ultra, which is available in single-SIM and dual-SIM variants, also comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE, GPS/ A-GPS, Bluetooth v4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, DLNA, Miracast, HTC Connect, and USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity options. HTC U Ultra also comes with HTC USonic feature, which allows it to analyse the shape of user's inner ear with a "sonar-like pulse".

The Ultra was launched in the UK at a price of GBP 649 (₹54,000 approximately). On the other hand, HTC U Play comes with a 5.2-inch display and is powered by octa-core Mediatek Helio processor, 4GB RAM, 64GB internal memory (expandable up to 2TB), 16MP main and 16MP front camera and 2,500 mAh battery.
Last month, HTC had launched the U Ultra and the HTC U Play with the new Sense Companion, which is an artificial intelligence (AI)-based system that learns the user's daily patterns and accordingly provides usage recommendations and friendly advice. The AI-based companion aims to help users in day-to-day requirements.
