Moto G launching November 13

Following the leak, Motorola has confirmed that the Moto G does indeed exist and that a launch is set for November 13.

A budget version of Motorola's contextually aware smartphone Moto X seems to be on its way to Europe in time for the holiday season.

The Moto X -- the first Motorola handset designed with direct Google input -- was launched to much fanfare in the US in August but, until now, the European smartphone-buying public had been feeling rather left out.

However, all of that is set to change with the launch of the Moto G: according to GSM Arena, which published what it claims are leaked publicity materials, the phone will be arriving in the UK at least before Christmas and will cost a mere £135 (€160) without a contract.

For that, consumers would get a handset with a 4.5-inch 720p display, a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 5-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of storage, and Android 4.3 -- all of which would make it a mid-range handset but at a rock-bottom price.

What isn't clear yet is whether it will offer any of the contextually aware features that debuted on the Moto X or whether or not consumers will be able to customize their devices. However, if the phone is going to be launched in time for Christmas, it's doubtful that there will be time to publicize, explain and initiate a personalization service in the remaining weeks of 2013.

When Motorola announced the Moto X in the US it stated that the handset would be the first in a series of similar devices and that although the first phone would only be coming to the US, that Europe was a key market and that future handsets were destined for the continent.
