Motorola Mobility is bringing back its iconic Razr brand name for a beautiful, industrial design-inspired smartphone dubbed the Droid Razr.

The ultra-skinny handset measures in at a tiny 7.1 millimeters (compared to the iPhone 4S at 9. 3mm and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which measures 8.94 mm) and features a sculpted Corning Gorilla Glass face, diamond-cut aluminum accents, a Kevlar fiber back and phone-wide splash-guard coating.

Up front, a vibrant 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display renders sharp and vivid images while the back end of the phone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor and Android version 2.3.5. The 8MP camera can also capture HD 1080p videos while Motorola's MotoCast app and DNLA connectivity enables users to stream or download music and photos from home or work computers while they are on the go.

'We set out to design the best smartphone on the planet and delivered DROID RAZR which is thinner, smarter, stronger than any device on the market,' said Sanjay Jha, chairman and CEO, Motorola Mobility.

Unfortunately for Motorola Droid Razr-lovers, the device doesn't come equipped with near field communication (NFC) or Google's latest operating system (Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich) -- if you want those features the newly announced Samsung Galaxy Nexus might be more your thing. Luckily for the Droid Razr, its handsomely good looks, hardy exterior and robust specs list are more than enough to make it an attractive purchase.

A side-by-side comparison of the Motorola Droid Razr and Samsung Galaxy Nexus can be seen at Engadget.

The Droid Razr (also known as the 'Razr' in some markets) will be available in North America, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and Middle East and Africa starting this November. The Droid Razr will be priced at $299.99 on a two-year contract.
