Much awaited Hogwarts Legacy game delayed to 2022
Hogwarts Legacy, one of this year’s most anticipated game launches for consoles and PCs, has been pushed to 2022 according to the game’s creators, Avalanche. In a tweet posted last night, the creators of the much-awaited Hogwarts-based game stated that they were giving the game the time it needed. The game’s trailer had previously stated that the open-world, action role-playing game would launch in 2021, but the website has now been updated to state it will launch in 2022.
“We would like to thank fans from around the world on the tremendous reaction to the announcement of Hogwarts Legacy from our Portkey Games label,” the game's creators said, in a prepared statement on Twitter. “Creating the best possible experience for all of the Wizarding World and gaming fans is paramount to us so we are giving the game the time it needs. Hogwarts Legacy will be released in 2022,” the tweet stated.
Set in the 1800s, the game is based around the player who receives a later acceptance to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and “holds the key to an ancient secret that threatens to tear the wizarding world apart”. Players will have access to what the game creators have called Ancient Magic, which can be used for good or evil, depending on the choices one makes.
According to the frequently asked questions on the game’s website, the game will launch on PC on compatible hardware, along with popular consoles like the PlayStation5, the PlayStation4, the PlayStation4 Pro, the Xbox Series X, and the Xbox One X. It also states that J K Rowling is not directly involved in the creation of the game being developed by Avalanche and published by Warner Bros under the Portkey Games label.
