. Oscar winning director Kevin MacDonald will edit all the entries and compile them into one single feature-length documentary to be produced by Ridley Scott. Individuals whose footage makes it into the film will be credited as co-directors and 20 of these contributors will be flown to Park City, Utah, for the film's world premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival. Now, that's some prize.

Scientists have created a new system that has the potential to boost cellphone performance.Emiliano Miluzzo of Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, and his colleagues have created software 'Darwin' to recognise an event, such as a specific person's voice, and how that may change in different conditions, such as when that person is in a noisy room. The phones then share this information with other phones that contain the software.

A computer successfully deciphered an ancient language, Ugaritic, in just a couple of hours. Regina Barzilay, an associate professor in MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Lab, Ben Snyder, a grad student in her lab, and the University of Southern California's Kevin Knight are the creators.Her work could not only help archaeologists translate other ancient languages, but also expand the number of languages that automated translation systems like
