Spider-Man No Way Home has hit the theaters and is breaking records for a Marvel superhero movie. Most of you may have watched it while some are yet to catch it. But did you fail to resist the lure of a Spiderman No Way Home free download and got the file on your PC? You may have just given out your bank details and made your PC a heaven for crypto miners.

Based on a recent research from The ReasonLabs, a “spiderman malware” is getting widely distributed across the world. For those getting the free download, they may assume they are just downloading a torrent file of the movie Spider-Man No Way Home. However, the file also downloads additional files that make your PC available to crypto miners.

Spiderman malware snatching your PC resources

“The Spiderman malware is actually a new ‘edition' of a previously known malware that was disguised as various popular apps in the past such as ‘windows updater,' ‘discord app,' and now the Spiderman movie,” said the report.

The Spiderman malware does not compromise personal data but it affects your system in other ways. “The damage that a miner causes can be seen in the user's electricity bill. This is real money that they have to pay, given that the miner runs for long periods. Additionally, the damage can be felt on a user's device as often miners require high CPU usage, which causes the computer to slow down drastically,” adds the report.

Spiderman bogus streaming stealing money

This bogus stream of the Spider-Man No Way Home was found by Kaspersky that allegedly offers a stream or download for the new Spiderman movie. The Spiderman stream quietly steals your bank details.

The free streaming is usually available on certain websites that promise a free stream. Even though the website claims its all free, it still asks for bank details so it can "verify" a user's account. The website claims that it can allow visitors to download the latest movies and stream new films in HD quality.
