In this age of coronavirus, each and every technology-linked health gadget is more than welcome. And in this respect, if you already have the gadget and it gets a surprising update, so much the better. Fitbit has been launching a range of fitness wearables, including fitness trackers and premium smartwatches, that come with top of the line features and yet are affordable for people to buy. Now, the company has announced a whole bunch of new features for its smartwatch users. Fitbit today announced the launch of Fitbit OS 5.2 software update. This update brings a host of new features to Fitbit's smartwatches, which includes SpO2 tracking, heart rate notifications, new goal celebrations and support for Hindi among others. It also brings support for Google Assistant and noise detection to Fitbit's range of premium smartwatches. These features will be available on Fitbit Sense and Fitbit Versa 3 in the coming days. Let's take a look at them one-by-one.

Support for Hindi characters: The Fitbit OS 5.2 brings support for Hindi characters for all on-device message alerts to users around the world. Simply said, users will now be able to read messages that they have received in Hindi on their Fitbit smartwatches.

SpO2 tracking on-wrist: Fitbit smartwatch users can now see their nightly average SpO2 value and the range from your previous night's sleep right on their smartwatches. Earlier , these statistics were available only on the Today dashboard on the Fitbit app.

Personalising high and low heart rate notifications: This feature will send notifications to users if the Fitbit smartwatch detects that the heart of the user has gone above or below a certain threshold. Users will also be able to take a survey in the Fitbit app to better understand the statistics. This feature was earlier available only on the Fitbit Sense. Now, it is also available on Versa 3 smartwatch.

Snore and Noise Detect: This experiment is available for a limited number of Premium users to join. Fitbit says that when a smartwatch detects that a user is sleeping, the microphone on your Fitbit Sense or Versa 3 device will sample sound every few seconds to monitor snoring and the ambient noise level in the user's bedroom. This will help users in understanding their sleeping environment better such that they discover what might be disrupting their sleep and causing their awakenings or restlessness.

Google Assistant audible responses: With this feature, users will be able to check the weather, set reminders and alarms, control smart home devices and more using real-time audible responses from Google Assistant. This will be in addition to the existing speech to text on-screen responses by Google's virtual assistant.

Alexa Voice Service: Fitbit today said that users in India will have the added capability to receive replies in the Hindi language from the on-device voice assistant, that is, Amazon Alexa.

Others: In addition to the above-mentioned features, Fitbit also announced a new on-device clock face switcher that will let users swap their clock face without leaving the main screen. The company has also announced two new goal celebrations that will motivate users with bright, colourful animations when they reach their main goal.
