What’s more? The report noted that while Q3 2020 remained the strongest quarter in a long time, the fourth quarter of the year between October and December is expected to carry forward this momentum and present a strong growth trajectory yet.

As far as the commercial PC segment is concerned, the enterprises continued investing in PCs under their business continuity planning to manage their remote working requirements. However, the volume came down in this quarter compared to the second quarter of the year. This led to a marginal 3.1% year-on-year growth in the overall enterprise segment.

Talking about the specifics, the report noted that the notebook shipments grew at a strong 70.1% year-on-year as enterprises preferred them over desktops. The small and medium businesses resumed their purchases after taking a slight pause, as business operations started for most of the sectors with a relaxation in the lockdown restrictions. Shipments to this segment grew 5.5% year-on-year in the third quarter of the year 3Q20.

It also remained the leader in the consumer segment. However, its market share fell to 24.2% in 3Q 2020 from 28.2% in 2Q 2020.

Lenovo, on the other hand, was marginally ahead of Dell, which stood at the third spot, with a share of 21.7% in its overall shipments. It witnessed a 27% YoY growth in the consumer segment and a 46.2% growth in its SMB shipments. Overall, Lenovo’s shipments fell 16.9% YoY.
