Waiting for Windows 11 update to reach you? Know what Microsoft said

If you are still waiting for that elusive Microsoft Windows 11 update to roll around to your PC, then there may be some good news for you. It is being reported that Microsoft is all set to roll out the upgrade to more PCs and that this will happen from next week. Notably, Windows 11 is an upgrade for the old Windows 10 and brings a number of standout features that have been designed to appeal to a wide range of users, from professionals to gamers. It has even added Android apps to its repertoire in a bid to get people on its bandwagon. Microsoft Windows 11 is the first major update in six years to its popular Windows platform.

Significantly, even as the Windows 11 OS was launched on October 5, most the deliveries went to new PC rather than for free upgrades. However, that is about to change starting next week. But, having said that, no one should hold their breath as it is not going to happen in one fell swoop. The Windows 11 upgrade rolling out to all PCs is likely to stretch into the next year. Microsoft will be rolling out the OS in batches to all the eligible people.

"The availability of Windows 11 has been increased and we are leveraging our latest generation machine learning model to offer the upgrade to an expanded set of eligible devices. We will continue to train our machine learning model throughout the phased rollout to deliver a smooth upgrade experience," The Verge, quoted Microsoft as saying.

Microsoft hasn't provided a list of devices that are now being offered the Windows 11 upgrade, but many manufacturers have announced which of their devices will be eligible for upgrades. However, users will only be able to obtain the update if their PC meets the minimum system requirements. This will be told to them through an app called PC Health Check.

Of course, there is another way to upgrade to Windows 11, but Microsoft frowns upon that practice. In fact, Microsoft will not provide any support to users who download the Windows 11 OS through methods not recommended by it. Those who do so may well be putting their PCs in harm's way.

While most features on Windows 11 are new, some of the old faithfuls will be coming in with fresh faces after receiving a makeover. These include the snipping tool, calculator, mail, and calendar apps. They have been changed in a way to better fit in with the Windows 11 look and feel. Even Microsoft Teams has gone through some changes.
