Windows 10 May 2020: Microsoft confirms a range of issues with the new update

Microsoft recently rolled out its first big Windows 10 update of the year. Called Windows 10 May 2020 aka v2004, the new update comes with many new features and improvements. But, it also has a long list of critical issues. Fortunately, Microsoft has already acknowledged these problems and is already working on the fixes. Meanwhile, Windows 10 users may consider holding off downloading and installing the latest update.

Microsoft on its support page confirmed that some users may face difficulty when connecting to more than one Bluetooth device after the update. This problem may occur on Windows 10 devices with certain Realtek drivers.

Some devices may face issues with Thunderbolt docks that may show a stop error when plugging in or unplugging the dock. The company has also confirmed errors or unexpected restarts for some devices that have Always On, Always Connected switched on.

Affected apps and games using both GameInput Redistributable and Windows 10, version 2004 might lose mouse input.

Devices with apps or drivers using certain versions of aksfridge.sys or aksdf.sys might have issues updating or starting

You might have issues if you are using an Nvidia display adapter (GPU) and drivers with a version below 358.00.

Microsoft is also making sure Windows 10 users are aware of these critical bugs. According to a Slashgear report, Microsoft is now showing a prompt to Windows 10 users to inform that the update may not available to their system.

“The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. We’re offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn’t quite ready for it. Once your device is ready, you’ll see the update available on this page. There’s nothing you need to do at this time,” reads the prompt for devices that Microsoft thinks aren’t ready for the Windows 10 May 2020 update.
