Windows 11 release date: You will likely get glitzy new Microsoft OS by this date and time

Windows 11 release date: Microsoft is gearing up to release Windows 11, the biggest upgrade to its operating system since 2015. While a great number of PCs and laptops will not be compatible with the new update thanks to strict system requirements, many users are waiting eagerly for the update to land on their computers. However, while Microsoft unveiled the operating system and showed off the key features during the launch event in June, it has not yet announced the official release date for Windows 11 yet.

Meanwhile, Microsoft has apparently dropped a big hint about the release date of upcoming Windows 11 operating system in a recent tweet, as spotted by Betanews. The tweet contains a screenshot of the Windows 11 desktop in the frosted glass-like dark mode, with the Start Menu opened. However, upon closer inspection, the clock and date in the bottom right corner show some interesting information.

In the screenshot shared by Microsoft, the date and time section at the bottom of the screen has the date October 20, 2021, and the time shows 11:11 AM. Enthusiasts will note that Android also uses the same clock based timing to show the current version – for example, Android 10 will show 10:00 on the clock when in Demo mode. However, what is more noteworthy in this screenshot is the date mentioned, which hints toward the launch date being October 20.

Considering that Windows sets the time automatically from NTP servers on the web by default, this would have to be done manually. However, If Microsoft does decide to release the Windows 11 upgrade on this date, many users will probably have to wait for a few months – even into early 2022 before they receive the upgrade.

Meanwhile, users who want to try out Windows 11 can sign up for the company’s Windows Insider program to test out the new OS update, although it is recommended that they use a spare computer as testing software should never be installed on a computer you regularly use.
