ZTE Axon 20 5G with under-screen selfie camera showed by company CEO

ZTE has already announced that it will be launching the Axon 20 5G on September 1. It is also claimed as the world’s first smartphone to come with an in-display front-facing camera. But all we have seen so far is the teaser illustration by the firm in its official Twitter post. Now, the smartphone’s first ever render has shown up and obviously, the selfie camera is nowhere in sight. This official teaser comes directly from the CEO of the company on Weibo microblogging website. It just shows the front of the device.

The screen has a wallpaper with five people holding placards. Each featuring either a punch hole at the top corner or a pop-up camera except for the one that has no such cutout or pop-up and is seen with the happiest expression. Also noticeable is that there’s hardly any bezel on the top and sides. The bottom part does have a chin.

Since the side bezels are visible, one can safely assume that the screen will be flat and not curved on the sides. Also speculated is that since the power button doesn’t seem to integrate fingerprint scanner, the handset may have an in-display fingerprint tech for which it would require an OLED panel.

We are however, yet to see how ZTE managed to make this tech a reality and working for the masses.

The ZTE Axon 20 5G is expected to feature a 6.92-inch (1,080x2,460 pixels) OLED display and powered by an unspecified octa-core CPU. There might be three variants based on the RAM capacities - 6GB, 8GB, and 12GB along with 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage versions.

In addition, the smartphone may feature four rear cameras consisting of a 64-megapixel primary sensor + 8-megapixel sensor and a couple of 2-megapixel cameras. The front camera will be placed under the screen and is supposed to have a 32-megapixel sensor. It could be backed by a 4120mAh battery.
