According to a new report, Apple is reportedly cutting down on the production for all its iPhones by around 20%. However, it has been mentioned that the iPhone 12 Mini, out of all these, is taking the majority of the cutback. As mentioned by Nikkei Asia website, the decision is taken as the demand for the iPhone 12 Mini has been far lower than what Apple initially expected.

The report adds that Apple initially aimed for securing components for up to 96 million iPhones in the first half of 2021. This included all the four iPhone 12 devices along with some older models like the iPhone 11 and iPhone SE. However, it looks like the company is now targeting production of around 75 million units during the same time. It is still slightly higher than the iPhone shipments that took place in the same period last year.

The iPhone 12 Mini demand has been not has not been an impressive one and Apple has even asked suppliers to temporarily stop building components specifically for the 5.4-inch device.

Some components and parts of iPhone 12 Mini may have been relocated to the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, as mentioned by Nikkei Asia. However, the demand for other three iPhone 12 models - iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max, still seem strong and may help Apple break the record of $111.4 revenue that was reported in the December quarter.

It is being said that the company may still go ahead with the launch of iPhone 13 Mini later this year despite iPhone 12 Mini not getting the desired demand.

This comes from tipster Jon Prosser, who also says that the company will continue making the iPhone 13 Mini even if it has to make less number of units. Not much is known about the specifications though. But rest assured, it will have similar features as the iPhone 13, except for a smaller battery and screen size.

The tipster added that there could be a chance that Apple might not launch the next generation iPhone SE this year. That's because the gap might be fulfilled by the iPhone 13 Mini. However, if only Apple plans to launch a ‘SE’ iPhone this year, it might be the ‘SE Plus’.

iPhone 12 Mini comes in 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage variants, priced at 69,900, 74,900 and 84,900 respectively. It has a 5.4-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with 2340x1080-pixel resolution, A14 Bionic processor, dual 12-megapixel rear cameras with wide and ultra-wide sensors, 12-megapixel front camera and support for MagSafe charger.
