Apple's rumoured foldable iPhone could include Pencil support: Reports

Phones with foldable displays appear to be the latest trend in the smartphone industry, slightly ahead of the new and experimental under-display cameras. We’ve previously reported that Apple was rumoured to be working on their own foldable displays similar to the Galaxy Z Flip. Now, a new report suggests that the company’s rumoured foldable phone could also support the Apple Pencil.

According to a report by Phone Arena, which cited analytics firm Omdia, the foldable iPhone could feature an OLED display between 7.3 and 7.6 inches when opened up and include support for the Apple Pencil. It is difficult to imagine using the rumoured device with one hand, as phones which are 6.7 inches are already too unwieldy.

Despite all the leaks, renders and rumours indicating it is possible, it is quite unlikely that Apple will actually launch a foldable device this year. While reports abound that Apple seems to be favouring the clamshell design instead of the Galaxy Fold’s taller build, it doesn’t seem likely that the company, which is known to spend more time but release refined iterations on technology (such as FaceID) will release a foldable device this year.

While Apple does not include support on its own for its Pencil on any Apple device at the moment, it is possible that Samsung’s decision to support the S-Pen on its S21 Ultra series may have influenced its decision to include support for its foldable smartphones.
