Asus has been awfully quiet about its smartphones this year but it looks like there was a reason for that. The firm is now about to have one of its biggest launches of 2020 on July 22, thanks to the countdown on the website. The Taiwanese tech giant, which is better known for its ROG line of gaming laptops and ZenBooks, is said to debut its ROG Phone 3 this time. The third-gen smartphone is said to rival the much-anticipated Lenovo Legion gaming smartphone, which is also supposed to launch this year.
For now, the Asus website shows the announcement to be made on July 22 at 10AM ET, which means 7.30PM IST on the same day.
Although there is nothing confirmed about the upcoming gaming smartphone yet except for the launch date, some rumours have already been floating around regarding its specifications. Looking at the history of ROG Phone launches, we can expect the handset to feature top of the line Qualcomm processor, which in this case is likely to be the Snapdragon 865 or the Snapdragon 865+. One can also expect 12GB or 16GB RAM, 6000mAH battery and an AMOLED pane. As for the storage, you can get 512GB inbuilt space.
Recently, as many as two models, ASUS_I003D and ASUS_I003DD, were listed on the Bluetooth website. These are claimed as the ROG Phone 3 models. Asus’ upcoming gaming phone will reportedly feature a 6.59-inch full HD+ resolution screen. The screen could come with up to 144Hz refresh rate. In addition, the phone is also rumoured to feature a 64-megapixel rear camera. There could also be a 30W fast charger.
