You may have to wait longer for Samsung’s next-gen Galaxy Z Flip foldable phone.
According to The Elec, Samsung will not launch the Galaxy Z Flip 2 until the Galaxy S21 series has made its debut. The Korean company traditionally showcases the S-series flagship phones in February.
Last year, Samsung had showcased the Flip foldable phone alongside the S20 series. Interestingly, Galaxy Z Flip had gone on sale before the S20 series, reports Android Authority. The change in strategy is said to be aimed at reducing sales overlap.
If the latest report is to be believed, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 2 will arrive after the first quarter of 2021, well after the Galaxy S20 series has rolled out in all its key markets.
That said, Samsung is rumoured to be preparing at least five models for its foldable phones lineup. So far, we have only heard about the Galaxy Fold 3.
The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is expected to come with bold design changes including three displays and improved hinge mechanism. The onboard cover display will come with a punch-hole camera that is placed in the middle of the display.
An aggressive push to foldable phones come amid rumours of Samsung pulling the plug on its iconic Galaxy Note series. Of late, multiple reports have emerged online confirming Samsung’s big move for 2021.
“An unusual clue: There is currently no information on the development of the Note21 series,” reliable leakster Ice Universe recently wrote on Twitter.
