Samsung pulls One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung started rolling out the One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 FE earlier this week. It has now reportedly pulled the update just days after releasing it. Galaxy S20 FE is actually one of the first Samsung devices to receive this update, even before the Galaxy S21 series.

According to a report by Sam Mobile, the One UI 3.1 update for Galaxy S20 FE is no longer available through OTA or Smart Switch. There’s no official word on why the update was pulled but it’s likely that there were some bugs. Some Galaxy S20 FE users who installed the One UI 3.1 update had some complaints on Reddit. Users complained of performance issues, faster battery drain and erratic SMS notifications.

It looks like the One UI 3.1 update was not ready for Galaxy S20 FE, and Samsung is working on fixing those bugs before rolling it out again. A similar incident happened last month when Samsung pulled the Galaxy S10’s Android 11 update due to heating and camera issues. It later rolled it out again after a few weeks.

One UI 3.1 update comes with the latest February security patch and a couple of features for the Galaxy S20 FE. This update lets Galaxy S20 FE users remove location data from photos. It also brings the ability to add effects in third-party video calling apps. It also brings Google Discover on the home screen.

Samsung also improved the image quality when zoomed in low light with this update. In the gallery, it has added the view remastered picture feature. One UI 3.1 also comes with support for image analysis to find the optimum resolution, brightness, colour and sharpness, and also recommend optimised images.
