Apple planning to launch iPad, iPad Mini soon

Apple launched two new iPad Pro models earlier this year. But looks like the company is not done updating its iPad models yet. Now, a new report says that the company is planning to launch two new iPad models soon.

According to a report by noted Apple analyst Ming Chi Kuo (via MacRumours) the company is planning to launch two new iPad models towards the end of the year. While the 10.8 inch model is expected to arrive in the second half of 2020, the other model with a screen size between 8.5 to 9 inches is expected to arrive in the first half of 2021. Both these models will feature a screen that is bigger than the existing 10.2-inch and 7.9-inch models.

That said, it remains unclear if Apple is planning to introduce larger iPads or simply increase the screen size by reducing the bezels.

Interestingly, Kuo had earlier said that Apple was working on an iPad mini with LED display, which would be launched in 2020. It remains to be seen if the iPad Mini mentioned in today’s note is the same that will launch with an LED display.

Separately, Kuo also talked about Apple’s virtual reality headset, Apple Glasses, in today’s note. Earlier this year a report by Digitimes hinted that Apple could drop its VR-powered glasses in 2022. Now, Kuo doubled down on that prediction. He said that the Apple Glasses could be launched sometime in 2022 “at the earliest”.

Reports in the past have also hinted that the company’s VR glasses will come with a high-resolution display and a light-weight design. Report also suggests that the device would be powered by a new operating system called the rOS or reality OS.
