Apple WWDC 2022 TODAY: Know time, expectations, other details

Apple WWDC 2022: The most awaited Apple event, the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC), is all set to happen today, (Monday, June 6). People are eagerly waiting for the event in order to know the latest announcements by Apple's CEO Tim Cook regarding the upcoming developments. It can be known that the WWDC 2022 event will be livestreamed online on Apple's website, Apple's YouTube channel, and Apple TV. The event will start at 10:30PM IST. Though the duration of the event is not known it is expected to be around 2 hours.

Though no official announcements have been made by Apple regarding the developments that are going to take place during the event, but several reports based on the leaks and rumors have been circulating stating that the WWDC 22 event is expected to bring announcements related to Apple's new software products including iOS 16, iPadOS 16, update to macOS, watchOS, and much more. According to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple may bring updates to the Health App, notification panel, and enhancements for the lock screen which will include wallpapers that have widget-like capabilities. Gurman expects more social network-like functionality in Messages, particularly around audio messages. Further, it is expected that the Apple TV operating system, tvOS, will get more smart-home tie-ins, while the Mac will get some redesigned apps.

In a Bloomberg's Newsletter, Gurman has further spoken about the MacBook Air and possibility of a new 13 inch Macbook Pro announcement in the WWDC 2022 event. "There’s even the possibility of a new MacBook Air on Monday. Apple had planned to launch the new laptop at this year’s conference, but the much-discussed Covid-related lockdowns in China led to shutdowns of factories that make MacBooks, leading to potential delays. If the new Air is indeed announced at the conference, I’d expect shortages or a non-immediate release date," the Newsletter stated. Gurman further stated in the Newsletter, "The new Air will be the biggest revamp to the device in over a decade, bringing in a new design not dissimilar to the latest MacBook Pros and new colors (including a dark blue and a champagne-like gold in addition to space gray and silver). You can expect a 13-inch display, a pair of USB-C ports, MagSafe charging, Touch ID, no Touch Bar and the possibility of a notch to match its pricier cousin."

"A faster 13-inch MacBook Pro had also been planned to launch around the same time as the new Air, but those same lockdowns in China could have thrown off that part of the roadmap as well. When that machine does launch, expect it to look the same as the current 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2020 sans the Touch Bar," he added.
